Bio

Writing partners and musical collaborators, Phil Hanseroth and his brother, Tim, Brandi Carlile’s longtime bandmates, friends, and family, and otherwise referred to as “the twins” by endearing fans of the trio, have been working alongside each other since the beginning of their music careers. They met Brandi Carlile when they were still part of the hard-rock band, the Fighting Machinists, and were introduced to each other by producer Jonathan Plum while hitting it off over a game of pool.

Fast forward to present day and the band has released 6 albums, with The Story, their second album, becoming RIAA gold certified, The Firewatcher’s Daughter receiving a Grammy nomination for Best American Album in 2016, and their most recent album By The Way, I Forgive You debuting at No.1 on numerous Billboard charts, and winning the Grammy award for Americana Album of the year along with hit single “The Joke” taking home Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance at the 61st Grammy Awards.

Though Carlile is the front woman, she’s openly stated on several occasions that “Brandi Carlile” is a full-band effort and in an interview with Variety stated, “There is no Brandi Carlile without the twins” and to Songwriter Universe in 2018 that, “It’s a total, creative collaboration, and it’s also a life collaboration – It’s a situation where our families are together, for better or worse, all the time. We are literally a family.”
